Death Note
Showdown

Light finds out that anyone who touches the Death Note will be able to see the highly amused, death god, Ryuk. He devises a mechanism in one of his desk drawers to keep the notebook safe. Meanwhile, Interpool notices the mysterious deaths brought down by the Death Note and calls in an expert to investigate. “L”, the expert, hatches a plan to find the whereabouts of the killer. A slipup from Light narrows the search tremendously and “L’ and Light set off a battle of wits, to see who can find the other first.
Phew, I feel better now that Light actually has someone after him. I couldn’t stand the lack of consequences involved with the storyline of the first episode. Of course, I have mixed feelings of wanting Light to win or lose. I’m not sure which I should root for. Right now the coin is in the air, at least for me.
I’m not sure if I like Ryuk anymore. Sure, he’s an antagonist towards Light, but sometimes he seems a bit too antagonistic. He crosses the line to just plain malicious and I don’t particularly care for it.
Ah! Megami-sama TV Episode 18
Ah! The Fated Confession is Underneath the Moon!

Keiichi receives tickets to go to the beach from his sister, Megumi. Her plan was for the happy couple to go alone, but, as usual, Belldandy’s sisters tag along anyway. Urd and Skuld continue their tug-of-war game with their sister’s relationship and annoying antics occur.
This seems to be the standard silly beach episode, compleate with swimsuits and bathhouses. Every anime has to have a simliar goof-ball episode somewhere along the way. It’s one of those staples.
I can never figure out why Keiichi acts like such a pushover all the time. He needs to grow a backbone. This tendancy, coupled with Belldandy’s utter ignorance would be my only complaint and major pet peeve of the series.

Rebirth

Let me just tell you, I’ve been told to watch/read this anime/manga by many people and so, like a good little sheep I downloaded all the available episodes. There are five of them right now, I think? As soon as the first one was done downloading, I was watching it.From the first episode, this anime is not what I expected at all. Not even a smidgen of what I expected. There are no indicators from this first episode that people would rally behind it screaming, “It’s so good!” I suppose I have to continue on.
An unusually bright kid named Light finds an interesting notebook. Baring a black cover, this notebook is mostly blank, save for its title on the front cover and a page of instructions. The notebook claims that any person who has their name written in it will die either by a default heart attack or the manner of the writer’s choosing. Light tries the notebook out and finds it works. Instead of shying away from sucha dangerous power, he decides it would be best to kill everyone he considers scum.
I think this is the first time the “with great power comes great responsibility” or “there is a large price to pay for these powers” cards have not been played. The main character is not harmed, nor does he keep the powers in check. He uses them as he sees fit and wishes to become something akin to the ruler of the world. So far, I do not like Light. He doesn’t even come close to having any of those likable villan features and, instead of being good or somewhat human, he is just there, doing these things as he sees fit. Hopefully the other characters will make up for what he is lacking or perhaps Light himself will become more three-dimensional.
There is still much to be learned about the seperation of worlds and the death gods themselves. Ryuk is an interesting character. Looking much like a disgruntled clown, he sends the Death Note into the human world and watches the havoc it causes when Light gets ahold if it. He also likes apples, finds them juicy. Most of what he said about Light using the book made little to no sense to me. Oh, of course I understood the stuff that he said plainly, but much of his innuendo was lost on me.
Ah! Megami-sama TV Episode 17
Ah! What are talent and hard work?
I have absolutley loved Ah! Megami-sama since I originally watched the OVA way back when. The movie just continued to have me love it and I was absolutely thrilled to know that they were coming out with a complete series of it. I’m not much of a manga reader and generally stick to anime, so the TV series helped expand the world that I knew and loved from the OVA/Movie. I also haven’t watched the Adventures of the Minigoddesses, as I thought that might ruin the series for me. I wasn’t ready for goofy omake-esque cuteness.
I’ve always liked Kosuke Fujishima’s character designs. There’s just something about them that gives me warm fuzzies. Wild hairdos and prehensile clothing bits are always in the plus catagory.
In this episode of Ah! Megami-sama, Sora Hasegawa is asked to ride in an all girl’s go cart race. Sora, being a rather shy girl, has no confidence in herself whatsoever. This prompts Belldandy and crew to take her into their home, to try and coax her out of her shell.
From what I’ve seen of the series, Sora is always the quiet, mousy, shy one of the misfit Motocross Club. This episode was apparently put there to tell us more about why she is how she is. Instead of working hard and becoming the best she can be, Sora would work hard and then quit, by faking an illness, in order to never ever fail at that particular project again. I found this to be rather unbeliveable, even for the character, mostly seeing as Sora spends a lot of her time working on and perfecting machinery.
One more point before I go. I am ultimately puzzled by the “Is Belldandy a Mary Sue?” question. Although she get’s into trouble, she seems to be able to pull herself and her comrades out of it, mostly unscathed. I understand that she is a goddess, but I think that sometimes that bit of information is taken a little too far. Belldandy cannot help everyone nor save everyone everytime.
Obligatory first post. Commense squeeing.
I am both a furry and an otaku. These are quite the conflicting fandoms, but I’m proud of my little quirks.
I’ve been a fan of anime for several years. The first anime I can officially remember is Dragonball, but I wasn’t really into it. The first anime I watched religiously was Sailor Moon. This, of course, led to learning there was more to this anime stuff and I moved on to bigger and better things.
I learned about AnimeSuki and the entire would of torrenting fansubs through an anime blog a few years back. I’ve been using it to get my anime fix ever since.
Which brings me to now. I’ve been wanting to create an anime blog for quite awhile, but I never got around to it or found a suitable home for such a thing. Livejournal, where my personal blog is hosted, just didn’t seem like the right place for it.
Well, I found out that the wonderful Maestro was giving away blogging space and, with a quick email, took advantage of the offer. Now the only thing I need to do is keep it up to date. Here’s to keeping my fingers crossed.
